CR/LMS 171 Class 0-4-4T

Designed by Dugald Drummond for light branch line duties including the Balerno Branch, 24 of the class were built which entered service between 1884 and 1891

CR Nos 171-178, 189-194, 222-226, 228-231

LMS Nos 15100-15114 (all withdrawn by 1944)

Engine numbers 171 - 178 and 228 - 231 were originally built with shorter bunkers to the final batch built 1891 with extended bunkers.

St Rollox Works as CR No.230 built 1886 - 1913 to Duplicate List as CR No.1230 - 1922 withdrawn.

St Rollox Works as CR No.175 built 1884 - 1913 to Duplicate List as No.1175 - LMS No.15102 not applied - 1928 withdrawn

This model in both scales is supplied as a set of etches only at this time, some generic components can be supplied from our range of castings to help the builder.

The 4mm scale body etch is in brass and includes a tube boiler.

The 7mm scale body etch is in brass, with the chassis etch in nickel silver and includes a tube boiler.

The 7mm kit requires the following wheels:

  • Slaters 7860CR x 2 - 5' 0" 16 spoke driving wheels
  • 2' 6" disk wheels - there is no known supplier for the correct pattern wheels at this time.
